A lot of water’s passed under the bridge since The Temper Trap’s delay soaked opening to ‘Sweet Disposition’ first began causing a stir on Australian radio late last year. The track was the first taster of their recording sessions with UK producer Jim Abbiss (UNKLE, Adele, Arctic Monkeys) and it clearly made the world sit up and take notice.

The track instantly won the band a steady stream of influential fans around the globe. Following a handful of much lauded dates in the UK & US in November, the band’s star rose quickly winning coveted spots on ’09 tip lists by the BBC, NME & X-FM, scoring rotation from influential BBC hosts Zane Lowe and Steve Lamacq, as well recording a stunning four track live session for the BBC’s Introducing series.

The new year only saw the momentum gather pace with the band signing a worldwide record deal (ex ANZ & Nth America) with Korda Marshall’s newly re-launched Infectious Records (previously home to Muse, Garbage & Ash), scoring a trailer and key film placement for Sundance buzz US film ‘500 Days of Summer’ and continued glowing reviews on blog sites stretching from Melbourne to London and New York and Madrid.

Now seems a pertinent time to focus on the reason we’re all here in the first place – the music, the songs, the voice and more specifically, this Melbourne-born, soon London-bound act’s long awaited debut album ‘Conditions’. Completed in early March in a final London session with Abbiss, the debut album is unquestionably set to deliver upon the immense promise created by acclaimed singles ‘Sweet Disposition’ and ‘Science of Fear’.

The monumental ‘Science of Fear’ is the band’s debut UK single and is already registering spins on the BBC’S Radio 1 playlist, whilst also spending five consecutive weeks on Australian tastemaker station Triple J’s most played list. This eye of the perfect ‘musical’ storm contrasts markedly with the hypnotic and gliding melodic spell of ‘Sweet Disposition’, but is equally a watershed mark for the act and further confirmation of this band’s refusal to be stymied by genre, expectation or any such ties that bind so many others on this brilliant album.

Having just completed a slew of electrifying US shows in late March, including a hugely successful SXSW campaign that saw their name listed in countless media/blogs highlights lists, the band returns to their native Australia to perform at the V Festival and select headline dates before relocating to London in mid April and commencing a journey that one suspects is well and truly just beginning.
